Strade helps you split expenses with friends and keep track of who owes
whom. This policy explains what information Strade collects, why, and the
choices you have. We collect only what the app needs to work — we do not
sell your data, show you ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
Strade (“Strade”, “we”, “us”) is the
provider of the Strade mobile app (the “Service”). This policy
applies to the iOS and Android apps and our related websites.
Information we collect
Account & profile
When you create an account we collect the information you provide:
Email address — to create and secure your account and to sign you in.
Name and username — so friends can recognise and find you.
Profile photo — optional, shown on your profile and in shared groups.
Phone number and payment handles (e.g. a UPI ID or a bank note) — optional. These are shown to people you owe or who owe you, so they can settle up out-of-band. They are revealed to a counterparty only when you choose to settle, never broadly.
Your ledger content
The core of the Service is the content you create: expenses, amounts,
currencies, balances, settlements, groups, group photos, comments and
notes. We store this so the app can show it to you and to the people you
share each expense or group with.
Contacts (only if you choose friend discovery)
We never upload your address book. If you opt in to
finding friends from your contacts, each phone number or email is
converted into a one-way cryptographic hash on your device. Only
those hashes are sent to us, purely to check for a match against people
who already use Strade and have allowed themselves to be discovered. We do
not store your raw contacts, and we cannot reverse the hashes back into
contact details. You can turn discovery off at any time.
Device & diagnostic data
To keep the app reliable we collect limited technical data:
App-installation / device identifiers — used by our analytics provider; not linked to your name or email.
Usage & interaction data — which screens and features are used, to understand how the app is used and improve it.
Crash and performance data — diagnostic reports when something goes wrong, so we can fix bugs.
Bug reports you send — if you submit a report, we include your app version and basic device details to help us reproduce the issue.
How we use your information
To provide the Service — accounts, groups, expenses, balances and settlements.
To let you find and connect with friends (only via the opt-in discovery described above).
To keep the Service secure and prevent abuse.
To diagnose crashes, monitor performance and improve the app.
To contact you about your account or important changes to the Service.
How your information is shared
We share information in only a few, limited ways:
With people you share with. When you add someone to a group or split an expense with them, the relevant content and your profile (name, username, photo) are visible to them. Payment handles are shared with a counterparty only at settle-time, when you initiate it.
With our infrastructure provider. Strade runs on Google Firebase / Google Cloud (Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Analytics, Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring). Google processes data on our behalf to host and operate the Service. See Google’s Firebase privacy and security and Google Privacy Policy.
For legal reasons. If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of Strade and its users.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can
ask us to delete your account and the personal data associated with it at
any time by contacting us at the address below; we will delete it within a
reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records
by law.
Some content is shared by nature: an expense you created in a shared group
may remain visible to the other members so their own records stay
accurate, even after you leave or delete your account.
To delete your data: email
utkarsh6972@gmail.com from the
address on your account and we will process your request.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on
Google Cloud infrastructure. We restrict access to personal data and rely
on Firebase Authentication and security rules to ensure you can only access
data you are entitled to. No method of transmission or storage is ever
100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
Strade is not directed to children. You must be at least 13 years old (or
the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to use the
Service. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under that
age; if you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will
delete it.
International transfers
Strade uses Google Cloud infrastructure and your information may be
processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on
appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct,
export or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain
processing, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise these rights — or ask
any privacy question — by contacting us. We will not discriminate against
you for exercising them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes
we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where
appropriate, notify you in the app.
